ISO 29001 CERTIFICATION SUPPORT

ISO 29001 certification for oil, gas and petrochemical suppliers

Selling into oil and gas means passing audits that are stricter than a general quality check. Operators want to see sector-specific controls, not just a generic ISO 9001 certificate.

ISO 29001 adds those controls on top of ISO 9001. We help suppliers build the system and certify it.

ISO 9001 plus the sector's requirements

The standard includes everything in ISO 9001 and then adds extra requirements aimed at the industry: tighter control over design, purchasing, production and service, special attention to product and service safety, traceability, supply chain reliability and prevention of counterfeit or substandard parts.

If you already have ISO 9001, you’re not starting again. We build on what you’ve got.

Extra things the sector asks for

Who needs it

What you get out of it

How we take you to certification

  1. Scope and customers. Which products, services and clients are covered.
  2. Gap analysis. Your ISO 9001 system against ISO 29001:2020.
  3. Add sector controls. Design, purchasing, traceability and nonconformance rules.
  4. Supplier control. Approved vendor lists, evaluation and monitoring.
  5. Training. Quality, purchasing, production and engineering staff.
  6. Internal audit and management review. A trial run.
  7. Certification audit. With an accredited certification body.

Current edition

ISO 29001:2020 is the current edition. Because it builds on ISO 9001, expect it to follow the new ISO 9001:2026 in due course. We’ll flag any change as it’s announced.

Questions we hear often

ISO 29001 includes the ISO 9001 requirements, so the one system covers both.

Not by law. Many clients and EPC contractors prefer or require it for approved vendors.

No. Product-specific API certification is a separate programme.
